2 burglary cases solved in Sopore, stolen property recovered: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 24 (KNO): In a significant breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore on Saturday said to have solved two burglary cases by arresting three accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession. “On 27-07-2024, Police Station Sopore received a written complaint from one person namely Gulshana Begum wife of Aashiq Hussain resident of Kralteng Sopore stating therein that she went to her son's home residing nearby her house. After returning back to her house, she found that jewellery had been stolen from the house,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 176/2024 under section 331(3) and 305 of IPC Act was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was initiated. “On the directions of SP Sopore Divya D, an investigation team comprising of SHO Police Station Sopore & other officials of Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore was constituted. During the course of investigation, the investigating team with strenuous efforts apprehended one accused person identified as Saqib Lateef Sofi son of Abdul Lateef Sofi resident of Sempora Sopore. During questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in the crime,” police said. Further investigation revealed the involvement of two more persons namely Aabid Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, resident of Zaloora Sopore, and Shakoor Ahmad Zargar, son of Mohammad Shafi Zargar, resident of Nigeenbagh Sopore (owner of S S Jewelers in Iqbal Market, Sopore). All the accused persons have been arrested, police said. From their possession, stolen property including 01 Kitty set, 09 Golden Rings, 01 Jumka big, 01 Jumka small, 05 Golden Coins (Ponds) and 02 Ear Rings (total valued Rs 6,10,000) were recovered, police said Furthermore, cash amount of Rs 1,30,000 was also recovered from the possession of accused Saqib Ahmad Sofi involved in a case under FIR number 200/2024, in which burglary was taken place at Iqbal Nagar Sopore on 14 August 2024—(KNO)
